Dan on the Issues.
"As a parent of four amazing kids, I cannot stand idly by while the Iowa's public education system continues to be underfunded, understaffed, and under-appreciated. I was elected to the Davenport Community Public School board in 2015 and became the President in 2019. I got involved because I felt like I had to. My kids futures are on the line and our state continues to throw public schools to the side. We used to be one of the top states in the country for public education. Now we can barely compete. We need to invest in our public education, we need to support our teachers and create an environment where our kids can thrive."
"I am deeply committed to fostering economic prosperity that benefits all individuals, not just those at the top. I currently serve as the President of the Quad City Federation of Labor, and was previously the midwest regional organizer for the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers. I am third generation member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 81. In the Iowa House, I will bring common sense, and a real-world perspective on labor and workers’ issues. Unions play a vital role in ensuring workers have a voice, fair wages, and benefits that provide economic security. I stand firmly with unions in their fight for workers' rights, collective bargaining, and the protection of safe workplaces and fair labor standards."
"Too many Iowans are still struggling to make ends meet today. Their wages simply aren’t keeping up with the rising costs of healthcare, food, child care, and utility bills. Our government is too focused on national interests, not what is happening in our state. We can and should take action to help lower costs and reduce living expenses for Iowans. Kitchen table issues are those for a reason - issues that real families like mine and yours deal with every day. I am determined to focus on what is best for Iowa families, communities, and kids ."
